3D Animated TCG Card Game Tutorial

I created this 3D animated tutorial to clearly communicate the core mechanics of Ward, a strategy card game built around layered abilities, dice-based combat, and evolving board states.

The goal was to take a system that can feel complex on paper and translate it into something visual, intuitive, and engaging.

I designed and animated a series of sequences that break down gameplay step-by-step, using 3D cards, dice interactions, and motion-driven transitions to reinforce how each rule functions in real time.

A big focus was clarity without slowing the pace. Mechanics like Limited Summons, counterattacks, and card limits needed to be immediately understandable, so the animation language leans on timing, spatial relationships, and visual hierarchy rather than heavy exposition.

On-screen text and captions were integrated directly into the scenes to support the action without interrupting it.

From a production standpoint, this involved building and rigging card assets in 3D, animating physics-driven interactions, and compositing everything into a cohesive tutorial flow.

The final piece balances instruction with energy, helping new players learn the game while still feeling like they’re watching something dynamic and polished.
